This past October we went on a journey. It was truly a dream come true for us and one of the biggest highlights of our career as photographers so far. What started out as an inquiry for an elopement turned into a 12 day adventure travelling through SE Asia with one amazing couple. We absolutely adore these two. It's so cool when you can meet people for the first time and you feel like you've been friends for years. That's how it felt after our very first skype chat + we instantly knew this was going to be something special. We travelled through 3 countries together, exploring, eating amazing food, taking a lot of photos + photographing not one but two sets of vows. It's a long story.
This first portion of Lali + Ehsan's wedding journey started in Phuket, Thailand. We met each other for the first time the morning of their scheduled wedding. That morning was all a blur as we had just flown thousands of kms after shooting a wedding in Vancouver + were surviving on little sleep. But that feeling of arriving at our destination + meeting Lali + Ehsan for the first time made all of it worth it and gave us the burst of energy we needed for the day. Lali + Ehsan knew they wanted to elope while travelling so they booked a package at a resort in Phuket. They wanted something simple + intimate in a beautiful location. We spent the afternoon with them cruising around on a water taxi to a couple of the small islands in the bay for portraits followed by a ceremony + candlelit dinner on the beach. It was a day that we will never forget.
This portion of the trip we have dubbed "the rehearsal". Why you may ask? Their elopement on the beach in Thailand was beautiful + all things wonderful but for these two it didn't quite satisfy what they were hoping for. It only took a trip to Vietnam to discover everything they had imagined and more. It's so hard to explain the whole story in one post so we will be breaking the trip up on the blog so keep your eye out for part 2 in Cambodia + part 3 in Vietnam.
